{"id":11092,"date":"2026-09-28T14:04:29","date_gmt":"2026-09-28T18:04:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/?p=11092"},"modified":"2026-09-28T15:23:05","modified_gmt":"2026-09-28T19:23:05","slug":"history-of-reasons-to-elect-republicans-in-november-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/history-of-reasons-to-elect-republicans-in-november-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Things for Taxpayers to Consider when Voting &#8211; Part I"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Taxpayers benefit from maintaining and expanding Republican majorities in Concord and in Washington DC.  <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Part I: A History of Reasons for Taxpayers to Elect Republicans in November 2026. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Granite State Taxpayers<\/em> has the &#8220;Mission to inform, educate and motivate New Hampshire taxpayers and to lobby the legislature on their behalf.&#8221; It&#8217;s been impossible not to notice that only one of the two major political parties is consistently a supporter of Taxpayers by reducing taxes and spending.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In the run up to the 2026 Midterm election, it&#8217;s useful to recall examples of how the two parties acted on issues of taxation and spending. Examples from 2023 &#8211; 2024 are fresh in our minds. Here are some examples from earlier periods:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Why Support efforts to elect Republicans?<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022\tWhen in the majority, Republicans leave more money and freedom with the citizens<br \/>\n\u2022\tNH Republicans reduced tax rates on business, interest and dividends, rooms and meals and property.<br \/>\n\u2022\tNH Republicans increased transfers of funds to the towns and cities for property tax relief.<br \/>\n\u2022\tWhen Republicans controlled DC in 2017, they passed the Tax Cuts &#038; Jobs Act.<br \/>\n\u2022\tThe result was business and job growth and repatriation of business, jobs, and wealth back to the US.<br \/>\n\u2022\tThat process resulted in a period of unprecedented economic growth and record low unemployment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why Support efforts to defeat Democrats?<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022\tWhen they\u2019re in the majority, Democrats take more of both our money and our freedoms<br \/>\n\u2022\tIn 2019 \u2013 2020, NH Democrats passed taxes on income, sales and capital gains. Gov. Sununu vetoed all.<br \/>\n\u2022\tDemocrat majorities in DC passed tax increases, massive spending bills, and green agenda subsidies.<br \/>\n\u2022\tDemocrat President Biden constrained domestic energy production, raising the cost of energy.<br \/>\n\u2022\tDemocrat President Biden tried to shift responsibility for paying $300 Billion in student loans from the borrowers to the rest of us at a cost of about $2,000 for each of us who don\u2019t have, or paid off loans.<br \/>\n\u2022\tUnder Democrat control in DC, we had historic inflation, recession, anarchy in our cities , an open border, and a fentanyl  epidemic<\/p>\n<p><strong>Results in New Hampshire of 2 years (2021 \u2013 2022) of Republican control of Government:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022\tThriving economy that produced $430 million more in surplus than what was budgeted<br \/>\n\u2022\tIncreased the Rainy Day fund to about $250 million<br \/>\n\u2022\tA budget that was $172 million less than the previous budget<br \/>\n\u2022\tWikipedia: NH had the lowest poverty rate in the nation and 8th highest for median household income<br \/>\n\u2022\tNH\u2019s unemployment rate was 3rd lowest nationally at 2.3%<br \/>\n\u2022\tCato Institute ranked NH #1 overall, #2 in Personal Freedom, #3 in both Fiscal and Economic Freedom<br \/>\n\u2022\tThe Tax Foundation rated our business climate as 6th best nationally, and our state and local tax burden as #16. The next closest state in New England was Rhode Island at #36<br \/>\n\u2022\tWalletHub ranked the NH\u2019s economy as the 5th best nationally<\/p>\n<p><strong>Democrats typically vote as a bloc, so expect any negative action will be supported by all:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022\tEvery NH Democrat voted against the 2021 \u2013 2023 NH budget. They voted against:<br \/>\nlower tax rates on business, interest and dividends, rooms and meals and property,<br \/>\ngreater transfers of funds to the towns and cities for property tax relief,<br \/>\nexpanded educational choice and against a ban on abortion after 24 weeks until birth<br \/>\n\u2022\tEvery NH Democrat voted against CACR 36 that would have required that voters in NH had to be US citizens and NH residents.<br \/>\n\u2022\tIn DC, beginning in 2021, Shaheen, Hassan, Pappas and Kuster all voted for the HR 1 takeover of every states\u2019 election laws, for the \u201cInflation Reduction\u201d spending and climate lobby support bill, and for various spending bills that brought inflation to 8% and the debt to $34 trillion.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vote for EVERY REPUBLICAN on the ballot.<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022\tThe majority develops legislation, decides what bills and judges to vote on and who to investigate.<br \/>\n\u2022\tA vote for every Republican is a vote for a Republican majority and for rational government.<br \/>\n\u2022\tFailing to vote advances the Democrat, possibly giving them a win, and possibly a Dem majority.<\/p>\n<p>Posted by <em>GST<\/em> Board Member Ray Chadwick<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Taxpayers benefit from maintaining and expanding Republican majorities in Concord and in Washington DC.
