Granite State Taxpayers<\/em> success results from the efforts of dedicated individuals fighting for the taxpayers. <\/p>\n

Roy Stewart was one of those individuals.<\/p>\n

Roy served as Chairman of Granite State Taxpayers<\/em> during during the 1990s and 2000s.<\/strong>
\nHe worked for passage of key pro-taxpayer legislation such as of SB-2 voting for towns and school districts.
\nThis legislation enabled citizens to vote on school and town spending measures in the privacy of a voting booth, free of the influence of powerful unions and pro-spenders that oppose cost savings.<\/p>\n

We are saddened to report that Roy Stewart passed away recently. Following is his obituary. <\/strong>

\nRoy H. Stewart, a lifelong resident of Bedford, passed peacefully into the afterlife on March 13, 2017.<\/p>\n

Born in Manchester on Oct. 6, 1928, to Roy B. and M. Frances (Salls) Stewart, he attended local schools, Norwich University, and the University of New Hampshire.<\/p>\n

He operated several businesses, including Stewart Trucking and Truk-Away. Roy was active in the local and state politics, the Bedford Historic Society, the Masonic Lodge and trucking associations.<\/p>\n

He is survived by his children, Nancy Dmytro (Howard), L. Stewart Keefe (David), Glenn A. Stewart, and Ciarra Tylor (Tim); his brother, George R. Stewart (Jeanne); five grandchildren, Jamee Landry, Collin Landry (Shelley), Jennifer Barry (Tom), Jason Stewart (Amber), and Christopher Vega (Heather); great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two wives, Virginia R. (McLain) Stewart and Ann E. (Sidlaskas) Stewart, and longtime friend Julie Wilusz. <\/p>\n

SERVICES: A celebration of life will be held at the Bedford Cemetery in the spring.
