{"id":2347,"date":"2017-12-21T16:16:45","date_gmt":"2017-12-21T21:16:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/?p=2347"},"modified":"2017-12-21T16:16:45","modified_gmt":"2017-12-21T21:16:45","slug":"governor-sununu-no-toll-increase","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/governor-sununu-no-toll-increase\/","title":{"rendered":"Governor Sununu: No Toll Increase"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NH Governor Chris Sununu announced that he&#8217;s stopping an effort to increase road tolls in the state.<\/strong><br \/>\nThe toll increase was scheduled to be voted on next month by the Executive Council.<br \/>\nThe governor now says he won\u2019t be putting the item on the agenda for the Council meeting.<br \/>\nThe Governor sets the meeting agenda, so if the toll increase isn&#8217;t on the agenda, there can be no vote.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Sununu on Thursday December 21, 2017 issued a statement on the toll increases, under the title:<br \/>\n<em><strong>Sununu: No Coal or Tolls in Christmas Stockings<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have long been opposed to toll increases,&#8221; said Governor Chris Sununu. &#8220;After hearing from citizens across the state, reviewing feedback from the public comment sessions, and conferring with members of the Executive Council following yesterday&#8217;s final GACIT hearing, my position has not changed. Had the Council ultimately voted in favor of toll increases, I would have negated their vote. Dragging this process out is not productive. As such, I will not allow this toll increase to move forward.
