{"id":2453,"date":"2018-02-06T14:27:18","date_gmt":"2018-02-06T19:27:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/?p=2453"},"modified":"2018-02-06T14:35:34","modified_gmt":"2018-02-06T19:35:34","slug":"gst-opposes-hb413","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/gst-opposes-hb413\/","title":{"rendered":"GST Opposes HB413 Pension Cost Shift"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>GST<\/em> Opposes Having the State Pay for Local County and Town Employee Pension Costs.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>HB413 would require the State to pay 15 percent of the normal and accrued liability contributions of political subdivision retirement system employers for group I teachers and group II (police and fire) members.<\/p>\n<p>The remaining 85 percent will be paid by the political subdivision employers of those employees.<br \/>\nThose political subdivision employers pay 100 percent of such contributions under current law.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The New Hampshire House has voted HB413 &#8220;Inexpedient to Legislate&#8221; in on a roll call vote of 172-166.<\/strong><br \/>\nA notice for reconsideration of the motion of Inexpedient to Legislate was filed on January 9, 2018.<br \/>\n<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gencourt.state.nh.us\/bill_status\/billText.aspx?sy=2018&amp;id=75&amp;txtFormat=html\" target=\"_blank\">Click here to read HB413.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>HB413 would cause state expenditures to increase and county and local expenditures to decrease. <\/strong><br \/>\nHB413 has an estimated cost to the State Budget of $40,810,000 in 2018, increasing thereafter.<br \/>\nTotal cost for 2018 through 2021 is estimated to be $170,950,000.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>GST<\/em> values Local control on spending issues. Employee costs should be managed by the organizations that hire and employ them.&#8221; said <em>GST<\/em> Chairman Ray Chadwick. &#8220;We oppose HB413 because it shifts costs from local Counties and Towns and into the State Budget.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please urge your Representatives to vote against HB413.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gencourt.state.nh.us\/house\/members\/housemembers.html\" target=\"_blank\">Click here to find your Representatives.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GST Opposes Having the State Pay for Local County and Town Employee Pension Costs.
