{"id":2609,"date":"2018-04-16T17:57:04","date_gmt":"2018-04-16T21:57:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/?p=2609"},"modified":"2018-08-26T12:43:04","modified_gmt":"2018-08-26T16:43:04","slug":"superior-court-to-hear-appeal-of-sb3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/superior-court-to-hear-appeal-of-sb3\/","title":{"rendered":"Superior Court to Hear Appeal of SB3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Hillsborough County Superior Court will hear the Democrat Party lawsuit against SB3!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Advocating for election integrity has been a specific objective of <em>Granite State Taxpayers<\/em> for five years. <\/strong><br \/>\nSB3 required that people registering to vote here actually show proof that they are from New Hampshire.<br \/>\n<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/?p=1925\" target=\"_blank\"><em>GST<\/em> recognized the importance of SB3 when it was signed by Governor Sununu on July 10, 2017.<\/a> <\/strong><br \/>\n<em>GST<\/em> Chairman Chadwick said: <\/strong>&#8220;We now need to prepare to defend SB3 against the inevitable court challenges.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The NH Democratic Party and the League of Women Voters each filed lawsuits (since combined).<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Attorney General moved to dismiss the suit, alleging that the plaintiffs lacked standing to sue.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hillsborough County Superior Court Judge Charles Temple on April 11, 2018 denied that motion.<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8220;The NHDP alleges that SB 3 makes it more difficult for voters to register on Election Day and same-day registrants tend to support the Democratic platform,\u201d Temple ruled. He found the NHDP allegations were sufficient to keep the litigation alive, but noted that plaintiffs will have to prove standing at trial.<br \/>\n<strong>The two week court hearing on the merits of the suit is set to take place from Aug. 20 to Aug. 31.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;Whether same day registrants prefer a particular party is irrelevant.
