{"id":2670,"date":"2018-04-18T16:07:13","date_gmt":"2018-04-18T20:07:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/?p=2670"},"modified":"2018-08-26T12:42:23","modified_gmt":"2018-08-26T16:42:23","slug":"hb628-vote-for-more-study","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/hb628-vote-for-more-study\/","title":{"rendered":"HB628: Vote for More Study"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Senate Finance Committee Recommends HB 628 be Held for Further Study.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>HB628 establishes mandatory paid family and medical leave insurance (FMLI) controlled by the State.<\/strong><br \/>\nThe costs to operate the program are unknown.<br \/>\nInsurance plans currently exist that provide coverage for the types of benefits included in this legislation.<br \/>\nThat coverage is sold, on a voluntary basis, to employers wanting to provide these benefits to their employees.<br \/>\n<strong>HB628 grows government, regulations and cost, to take over a service offered in the private market.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Those issues (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gencourt.state.nh.us\/bill_status\/billText.aspx?sy=2018&amp;id=37&amp;txtFormat=html\" target=\"_blank\">listed in the Bill text<\/a>) were cited as reasons for the Senate Finance Committee vote.<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Senate Finance recommendation, if approved by the full Senate, would kill HB 628 for this legislative.<br \/>\nThe Governor has said that he would veto HB 628 if it reaches his desk, citing similar reasons.<br \/>\nThe House Finance Committee had voted to kill the bill, but was overruled by the full House.<br \/>\nThe House passed this bill three times and the full Senate could still resurrect it as the House did.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gencourt.state.nh.us\/house\/members\/wml.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Click here to find your Senators.
