{"id":2921,"date":"2018-07-19T20:16:04","date_gmt":"2018-07-20T00:16:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/?p=2921"},"modified":"2018-08-26T12:38:35","modified_gmt":"2018-08-26T16:38:35","slug":"gst-2018-candidate-survey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/gst-2018-candidate-survey\/","title":{"rendered":"GST 2018 Candidate Survey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Granite State Taxpayers<\/em> sent surveys to primary candidates for their positions on taxpayer issues. <\/strong><br \/>\nGranite State Taxpayers protects the rights of New Hampshire taxpayers by advocating for:<br \/>\n<em>realistic, balanced budgets without tax increases,<br \/>\nreducing government spending and regulations,<br \/>\nmore efficient government services.<\/em>  <\/p>\n<p><strong>Prior to each biennial election, <em>GST<\/em> sends a survey to each candidate to determine their positions. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>NH House and Senate candidates are asked to answer the following questions:<\/strong><br \/>\nWill you oppose any income or sales tax, or any increase in the overall tax burden in New Hampshire?<br \/>\nWill you support decreasing state spending or at least preventing any increase in state spending?<br \/>\nWill you support limiting voting to persons who have been New Hampshire residents for at least 30 days?<br \/>\nWill you support using the same residency standard for all NH services  that require residency?<br \/>\nDo you believe that state public school funding should be set by the legislature and not by the courts?<br \/>\nDo you support additional school choice options?<br \/>\nWill you support passing Right-to-Work legislation?<br \/>\nWill you support reducing business taxes and regulations to encourage economic development and business retention?<br \/>\nWill you support pension reforms for government employees including a transition from defined-benefit to defined-contribution plans?<br \/>\nWill you vote to terminate expanded Medicaid if the Federal contribution is cut?<br \/>\nWill you oppose casino gambling?<br \/>\nWill you support actions that decrease electricity rates, and oppose any actions that will increase them?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Governor and Executive Council candidates are asked to answer the following additional questions:<\/strong><br \/>\nDo you believe the actions of the Governor and the Executive Council must have a substantial influence on controlling State spending?<br \/>\nWill you oppose increasing the toll rates on NH turnpikes?<br \/>\nWill you support only Public Utilities and Environmental Services commissioner nominees who will roll back RGGI?<br \/>\nWould you support only a nominee for AG who will diligently investigate potential voter fraud issues?<br \/>\nWill you support only judicial nominees who will uphold the NH Constitution as written and in accordance with its original intent?<br \/>\nDo you believe that the Governor and Executive Counselors are entitled to complete information as to the need and purpose of particular contracts and those questions and answers should be aired in public?<br \/>\nWill you support only those nominees for the State Board of Education and Commissioner who will promote citizen choice in Education, such as homeschooling, educational tax abatements, and charter schools?<\/p>\n<p><strong>This year, we are asking candidates their positions regarding the Americans for Tax Reform Pledge:<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>For Legislators:<\/em><br \/>\nWould you agree to take the Americans for Tax Reform Pledge: \u201cI will oppose and Vote against any and all efforts to increase taxes.\u201d<br \/>\n<em>For Governor and Executive Councilors: <\/em><br \/>\nWould you agree to take the Americans for Tax Reform Pledge: \u201cI will oppose and veto any and all efforts to increase taxes.\u201d?
