{"id":6322,"date":"2020-10-30T11:31:30","date_gmt":"2020-10-30T15:31:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/?p=6322"},"modified":"2020-10-30T15:18:51","modified_gmt":"2020-10-30T19:18:51","slug":"governor-chris-sununu-will-work-for-new-hampshire-taxpayers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/governor-chris-sununu-will-work-for-new-hampshire-taxpayers\/","title":{"rendered":"Governor Chris Sununu Will Work for New Hampshire Taxpayers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Governor Chris Sununu Will Work for New Hampshire Taxpayers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em><em>Granite State Taxpayers (GST)<\/em><\/em> is New Hampshire&#8217;s oldest state-wide Taxpayer advocacy group.<\/strong><br \/>\nWe work to inform and motivate New Hampshire taxpayers on how low spending, enabling low taxes, benefits them.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>GST<\/em> assesses candidate positions on spending and taxes from incumbent votes and surveys.<\/strong><br \/>\nWe consider their willingness to increase the tax burden on New Hampshire Taxpayers.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/gst-2020-candidate-information-for-voters\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Click here<\/a> for information on New Hampshire House and Senate candidates who took our survey.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gubernatorial candidates Chris Sununu and Dan Feltes differ greatly on spending and taxes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>After review, GST believes Gov. Chris Sununu will be the best for New Hampshire Taxpayers.<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/gst-recommends-ayotte-and-sununu\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><em>GST<\/em> recommended Sununu in 2016<\/a>, an evaluation confirmed by his actions over his two terms. <\/p>\n<p>Sununu supported legislation to lower our business taxes and worked to reduce unnecessary regulations.<br \/>\nHe worked to attract new businesses and to lower energy costs in order to grow the state\u2019s economy.<br \/>\nThe economy grew, with the lowest unemployment in the US. New businesses and residents moved in.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/wallethub.com\/edu\/state-taxpayer-roi-report\/3283\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">WalletHub found NH to be #1<\/a> in comparing states on quality of government services versus tax burden.<br \/>\nElection laws were corrected to prevent residents from other states from voting here.<br \/>\nEducational choice was expanded. Rainy day funds were replenished.<br \/>\nBusiness taxes were reduced, and funds were returned to communities to reduce property taxes.<\/p>\n<p>After the election of 2018, Democrats took control of the Legislature and the Executive Council.<br \/>\nSununu made an effort to work with Democrats.<br \/>\nWhen they proposed taxing wage income to fund a State takeover of Family Medical Leave Insurance (FMLI), he proposed a market based plan to improve FMLI availability and affordability.<br \/>\nSununu has vetoed 79 bills impacting taxpayers, families, liberties and Second Amendment rights.<\/p>\n<p>The Cato Institute <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cato.org\/multimedia\/cato-daily-podcast\/new-hampshire-advantage-sound-fiscal-policy\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">interviewed Sununu<\/a> and ranked him <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cato.org\/publications\/white-paper\/fiscal-policy-report-card-americas-governors-2020\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">#1 among Governors for fiscal policy.<\/a><br \/>\nManagement of Covid-19 earned NH a <a href=\"https:\/\/wallethub.com\/edu\/most-aggressive-states-against-coronavirus\/72307\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">WalletHub ranking as the 9th most aggressive state in responding to the virus<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Sununu <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insidesources.com\/sununu-says-nh-has-solid-case-against-mass-commuter-tax-attack\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">sued the State of Massachusetts<\/a> in the US Supreme Court to stop its effort to collect taxes from New Hampshire residents who are working from home for Massachusetts companies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dan Feltes has promoted increased spending, taxes and expansion of state government. <\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/gencourt.state.nh.us\/Senate\/members\/legislation.aspx?id=927\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">He has supported<\/a> increasing the minimum wage and restricting workers&#8217; rights with Card Check.<br \/>\nAs a state senator, he voted for increasing taxes and fees in the past two years, including efforts to pass an income tax to fund a State takeover of Family Medical Leave Insurance.<br \/>\nHe and other Democrats have voted for &#8220;Green New Deal&#8221; initiatives that will drive up energy costs.<br \/>\nHe voted for laws to provide voting rights in New Hampshire for residents of other states.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We in New Hampshire have a day-night difference in the choice for governor.<\/strong><br \/>\nRevenue shortfalls due to the pandemic will create challenges dealing with the next budget.<br \/>\n<strong>With his experience and values, Sununu will be most able to deal with future challenges.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Granite State Taxpayers<\/em> Board of Directors<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Governor Chris Sununu Will Work for New Hampshire Taxpayers Granite State Taxpayers (GST) is New Hampshire&#8217;s oldest state-wide Taxpayer advocacy group.
