{"id":6449,"date":"2020-12-14T14:59:32","date_gmt":"2020-12-14T19:59:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/?p=6449"},"modified":"2020-12-14T14:59:32","modified_gmt":"2020-12-14T19:59:32","slug":"gst-report-on-2019-2020-activities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/gst-report-on-2019-2020-activities\/","title":{"rendered":"GST Report on 2019 \u2013 2020 Activities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Granite State Taxpayers<\/em> has announced the following report on 2019 \u2013 2020 activities.<\/strong><br \/>\nThis report was delivered at the GST Biennial Meeting on December 8, 2020.<br \/>\n<em>GST<\/em> efforts include research on issues, website and Facebook posts, Member and Legislator emails, testimony before NH House and Senate, speaking engagements and Community TV shows.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Advocacy &#8211; Family and Medical Leave (various bills for State Takeover and Income tax)<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/?s=fmli\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Opposed the FMLI tax on income<\/a> in position papers and testimony to NH Senate and House. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Advocacy \u2013 Protect NH Businesses from tax payments to other states (Supported HB416)<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/hb-416-fights-wayfair-decision\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Supported HB416<\/a> to protect NH businesses from the effects of the US Supreme Court Wayfair decision. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Advocacy \u2013 Supported lower Utility Tax rates (Supported HB530)<\/strong><br \/>\nSupported bill to reduce utility property tax to reduce energy costs for ratepayers. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Advocacy &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/?s=election\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Election Integrity<\/a> (Supported SB3 and HB 1264)<\/strong><br \/>\nSB3: voters to document that they live in NH. HB1264: voters must reside in NH.<br \/>\nOpposed bills to eliminate these reforms in position papers and testimony to NH Senate and House.<br \/>\nPresentations on election integrity to 12 groups and in 1 Community TV interview<br \/>\nReviewed and publicized the incentive for election fraud proposed in the US House stimulus bills<\/p>\n<p><strong>Advocacy \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/preserve-the-nh-advantage-rally\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Preserve the NH Advantage Rally Saturday, 3\/30\/19<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\n<em>GST<\/em> organized a rally of over 300 Activists on the NH Capital steps to <a href=\"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/nh-advantage-under-attack\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">support the NH Advantage<\/a>.<br \/>\nPurpose was to hear Minority Leaders discuss legislation and support the Governor\u2019s vetoes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Education \u2013 Oppose the \u201cGreen\u201d Agenda, Net metering expansions<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/joe-daleo-joins-gst-board\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Oppose the \u201cgreen\u201d initiatives to implement regulations and non-market incentives that raise costs.<\/a><br \/>\nRecruited Weather Channel co-founder and climate expert Joe D\u2019Aleo to the <em>GST<\/em> Board.<br \/>\nHeld a widely attended \u201cClimate Facts\u201d meeting on June 25, 2019 to explain climate cyclicality and refute claims of global warming being used to fuel larger government regulations. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Education \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/hear-a-status-report-on-the-select-committee-on-2020-emergency-election-support\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Zoom conference on Select Committee on Emergency Election Support, 6\/3\/20<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nCommittee established to advise on processing additional absentee ballots and protecting the health and safety of voters and poll workers. Committee member Rep. Barbara Griffin reported on the status of the Select Committee deliberations and the expected changes for the 2020 Elections.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Education &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/gst-2020-candidate-information-for-voters\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">House Member Scorecard 8\/17\/20<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nReviewed thirty roll-call votes during the 2019-2020 session, including votes on taxes, spending, business regulations, voting integrity, electric rates and other issues of interest to taxpayers.<br \/>\nAverage scores were 19% for the 233 Democrats and 88% for the 162 Republicans.<br \/>\n17 representatives had perfect attendance and perfect <em>GST<\/em> scores.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Education &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/gst-2020-candidate-information-for-voters\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">2020 Candidate Survey with ATR Taxpayer Protection Pledge 8\/17\/20<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nSurveyed Primary Candidates for Governor, Council, NH House and NH Senate.<br \/>\n219 candidates completed the survey, and 97 of them achieved a score of 100%.<br \/>\nAverage scores were 94% for the 205 Republican responses and 62% for 11 Democrat responses.<br \/>\nSigned up candidates to take the ATR pledge at a signing event with Grover Norquist.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Education \u2013 Candidate Comparisons October 2020<\/strong><br \/>\nIn cooperation with NH Firearms Coalition, developed and mailed 22,212 postcards comparing NH Senate candidates in Districts 1, 11, 16, 18 and 23 on taxpayer and 2A positions.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/governor-chris-sununu-will-work-for-new-hampshire-taxpayers\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><em>GST<\/em> recommended Gov. Sununu<\/a> over his opponent due to his record.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>GST<\/em> Member Meetings<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/climate-facts-presentation-video\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Meeting 6\/25\/19<\/a> with speaker Joe D\u2019Aleo presenting Climate Facts<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/thank-you-event-a-success\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Meeting 10\/30\/19<\/a> with speakers Chris Sununu, Check Morse and Dick Hinch to recognize the vetoes and legislative efforts required to stop initiatives like, FMLI income tax, minimum wage increases, election law relaxation and many other bills.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/gst-30th-anniversary-celebration\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">30th Anniversary Meeting 8\/11\/20<\/a> with speaker Grover Norquist on the state of the economy.<br \/>\nEach meeting was broadcast on Bedford Community TV and posted to the GST YouTube channel.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>GST<\/em> Membership and Public Relations Growth<\/strong><br \/>\nBooth at the Amherst Independence Day parade in 2019, no parade in 2020.<br \/>\nPresentations to Americans for Tax Reform DC meetings on 1\/16\/19, 10\/23\/19, 2\/19\/20, 6\/10\/20.<br \/>\n<em>GST<\/em> website updated for improved appearance plus easier posting and information search<br \/>\n<em>GST<\/em> website posts: 72 in 2020 to date, 47 in 2019, 88 in 2018.<br \/>\n<em>GST<\/em> email contact list expanded to 624 (from 315 on 11\/29\/18).
