{"id":6474,"date":"2021-01-13T22:11:22","date_gmt":"2021-01-14T03:11:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/?p=6474"},"modified":"2021-01-13T22:11:22","modified_gmt":"2021-01-14T03:11:22","slug":"election-law-reforms-for-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/granitestatetaxpayers.org\/gst\/election-law-reforms-for-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"Election Law Reforms for 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>WHAT WE ARE TRYING TO ACHIEVE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Revise current New Hampshire election law to make our voting system simple to understand and execute, resistant to fraud, and available exclusively to residents of New Hampshire <\/p>\n<p><strong>GOALS FOR 2021 \u2013 2022 LEGISLATION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Fix the &#8220;temporary absence&#8221; rules that allow absentee voting for residents of other states.<\/p>\n<p>End &#8220;no-fault&#8221; absentee voting instituted for coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Request for absentee ballot required to enclose copy of ID.<\/p>\n<p>Bring back SB179 from 2015 for 30 day residency requirement<\/p>\n<p>Amend SB3 as required based upon final review by NH Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p>Proof of residency\/domicile required by election day (not after) to vote.<\/p>\n<p>Out of state driver license no longer allowed for Voter ID at polls.<\/p>\n<p>Currently registered voters with out of stat license required to re-register.<\/p>\n<p>End or greatly curtail the applicability of identity and residency\/domicile affidavits.<\/p>\n<p>For newly registered residents from other states, document and maintain information on prior state of residence, if not currently done.<\/p>\n<p>New registration information to be provided to prior state (town clerk), NH DMV and NH DRA, and available as public record or under 91-A. <\/p>\n<p>Pass any election law reform in first year if the biennium.<\/p>\n<p>Consider \u201cfriendly\u201d challenges to get litigation started and resolved sooner.<\/p>\n<p>Review pros and cons of going to \u201cMotor Voter\u201d system.<\/p>\n<p>Posted by <em>GST<\/em> Chairman Ray Chadwick<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WHAT WE ARE TRYING TO ACHIEVE Revise current New Hampshire election law to make our voting system simple to understand and execute, resistant to fraud, and available exclusively to residents of New Hampshire GOALS FOR 2021 \u2013 2022 LEGISLATION Fix the &#8220;temporary absence&#8221; rules that allow absentee voting for residents of other states.
