Filibuster Prevails Thanks to Sens. Manchin, Sinema and Senate Republicans

Senate Democrats Fail to End the Filibuster and Take Over Elections.
On January 19, 2020, Senate Leader Schumer attempted to pass their Federal Election takeover.
Granite State Taxpayers has reported on his plan and the positions of NH Senators Shaheen and Hassan.

They had combined the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act.
Democratic senators Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona voted against it.

The Senate had debated a rules change to exempt the voting package from the 60-vote hurdle.
With all Republicans plus Manchin and Sinema opposed, the Senate voted 52-48 to keep the current rules.
