Manchester Aldermen Ignore Cap on Spending

Manchester Voters Should Hold Their Elected Officials Accountable

On November 8, 2011 Manchester voters approved a “SPENDING CAP” to limit budget and spending increases to the rate of inflation, and provide a legal check on the growth of spending.

This limitation on Manchester City spending has been ignored by certain elected officials.

Aldermen have voted to override the spending cap twice in two years.
They are voting to increase spending and taxes in direct opposition to the intent and direction of the voters and the limits the voters approved.

This year the following Aldermen voted to ignore the Spending Cap:
Ward 1 – Joyce Craig
Ward 2 – Ron Ludwig
Ward 3 – Patrick Long
Ward 5 – Anthony Sapienza
Ward 6 – Garth Corriveau
Ward 8 – Thomas Katsiantonis
Ward 9 – Barbara E. Shaw
Ward 10 – William Barry
Ward 11 – Normand Gamache
At-Large Alderman – Joseph Kelly Levasseur
At-Large Alderman – Daniel O’Neil

The taxpayers of Manchester need a Mayor, Aldermen, and School Board members who are willing to prepare budgets and live within those budgets as directed by the voters through the spending cap included in the City Charter.
