Wall Street Journal presents commentary on the competitiveness and strategies of individual States.
The March 28, 2013 article is authored by Arthur B. Laffer and Stephen Moore.
The authors review and comment on Census Bureau data showing that the South and Sunbelt regions continue to grow, while the Northeast and Midwest continue to shrink in population. They say that the shifting demographics illustrate the places people are moving to and where they are packing up and moving from, and reflect the desirability of the economic, regulatory and tax strategies of individual States.

The authors observe that red states of the South and in other areas of the country are moving forward with pro-growth tax reform, and are growing as a result. They believe that this group of States and others who follow their lead, will come out ahead of California and the blue states of the Northeast that are doubling down on what they describe as Obamanomics and European progressivism.
